Tournament Victory BatReps! (2 of 3)

Hello again everyone!  I apologize again for my absence but school and general procrastination have once again been impinging on my battle report posting.  At this point, they're beginning to get a bit hazy, but I'll try to do the battles justice as best I can.  As a result, this will be more of a stream-of-consciousness type report rather than a detailed turn by turn recounting.  Hopefully you'll still enjoy the pictures and the general flow of the battle!

Our second game was against my fellow 'Arvard 'Ardboyz: Sam and Carroll playing Plague Marines and Blood Angels.

Tournament Victory BatReps! (1 of 3)

First off, my apologies for the epic delay in the posting of these reports.  Final exams and other such real life distractions got in the way.  So without further ado:

Victory!  First place for myself and my boy Alex and his Blood Angels and $320 in store credit to split between us.  It was quite the afternoon, and Alex's first truly competitive tournament.

The day was full of epic moments, solid tactical decisions, and fortuitous matchups for us.  If we had come up against lots of SW or IG or some other such nasty MSU-type lists, we would've had a much more difficult time of it.  Fortunately for us, we did not.  As a result, we pretty much dominated throughout the day.  However, there were a number of "epic" moments that made it a lot of fun and very entertaining for both sides.

Doubles Tournament!

Well I've got a doubles tournament this weekend with my old college roommate and his Blood Angels.  I'm frantically trying to finish up 2 more Venoms, 2 Trueborn, 2 Incubi, and some Raider/Ravager Dark Lances before Saturday.  In between studying for Histology and Immunology exams.  I'm probably screwed.  Oh well.

Anyways, on to the lists we're planning on fielding!

Archon Completed!!!

Yeah, so i'm pretty happy with how he came out!  A couple of slight touch-ups left to do, primarily his cloak, but other than that I'm very happy with how he came out.  I think the black helm was the right way to go, although it wasn't the only way.  Some of the highlights got washed out, and the green is a lot brighter than it actually appears to the eye, but you get the gist of it.  Enjoy!

Archon WIP Part 2

MOAR PROGRESS! Just the head and base to go!  I'm thinking black with grey highlights for the helm (the archon one with the plume, not the horned one.  Camera washed out a little bit of the darker areas, but still have most of the contrast.  Thoughts??

Archon WIP

Well fellas, when the galaxy is your playground, and the emperor's finest just a smear to scrape off the bottom of your shoe, you too can have your very own set of PiMpTaStIc aWeSoMeSaUcE armor for the very low price of one million tortured souls!  Taxes not included.

What say you?

Incubi Test Model

I'm pretty happy with how he came out.  Got some cool ideas for my Klaivex and Archon from painting him.  Enjoy!!!

Wych Squad #1: Complete!

Well they're finally finished.  Finally.  At long last.  It's been a bit of a marathon trying to finish them all.  All the little details that all need to be individually painted and highlighted and shaded just seem to go on forever!  Anyways, I hope you enjoy.  Basing hopefully soon, but I have to do something else for a while to keep my sanity.  Group shot of the whole squad at the end.

Wyches on the Way!

Hey everyone, sorry for the brief hiatus in blog posting.  Between exams and my last tournament, I just haven't had much time to post/model.  However, I'm nearly done with the remaining 5 Wyches for my squad, so I'll hopefully have something up on around Monday or Tuesday for you.  Weekend partying and girlfriend duty taking priority over painting and gaming =P

And What Else Burns?? MORE WYCHES!!

 Well, one at least.

I used a new method on the flesh tones.  It appears a bit washed out in the photo, but I'm a lot happier with how it came out.  I used a basecoat of Dheneb Stone, washed with Leviathan Purple, and then layered with Dheneb Stone and highlighted with 50/50 Dheneb Stone and Skull White.  As shown in the group shot further down, I think it makes the skin tones "pop" a lot more than the other ones.  Enjoy!

Battle Report vs. IG #2

So I played another 1850 battle vs. IG this week, different player with similar chimera-spam list.  Nate's lists have been becoming more and more evil as time goes by, culminating in this one.  We rolled the Adepticon 2010 mission with 3 objectives, one of them being the Alpha objective.

Hekatrix

My first Hekatrix while I should've been studying.  Oh well.  I'm pretty happy with him, but the skin tone isn't perfect yet and I'm not thrilled with the Agonizer.  Thoughts?

Trueborn Test Model

Just finished him up.  The base is still a WIP, white glue is currently drying, but here he is in all his badassness.  Custom-pattern blaster is just the DL with the tip cut off if you couldn't already tell.  Enjoy!!

Reaver Test Model

Just polished this bad boy off.  At least I think.  Any suggestions for basing additions?? Grass??

Enjoy!!

BatRep vs. IG

So I played another 1850 battle vs. a local IG player, Matt.  Again using the Adepticon 2010 missions, we rolled for the Annihilation mission:  Pitched battle deployment, Primary Kill Points, Secondary eliminate all enemy troops, Tertiary Victory Points (by 250 points).  Let me preface this game by saying that it was one of the most hard-fought, bloody, and enjoyable games I've ever played.  It isn't a battle I'll soon forget.  I apologize in advance for it's length, but the battle was very intense and went a full 7 turns.

1850 BatRep vs. Tyranids

As promised, an 1850 Battle Report against the Tyranids of Dr. John Hemlock.  We played the Adepticon 2010 mission where the primary objective is to control terrain pieces.  We used a full 25% terrain pieces, including plenty that blocks LOS for raiders and such.  Not that it mattered much to the Hive Guard.  So without further ado:

Warriors: Complete! ...sort of...

So they're finally finished.  Almost.  Just a few more touch-ups and little waist pouches to finish.  And 1 Blaster dude.  Other than that I have the 10 Warriors for my Tourney List done.

Next up: Blaster Warrior, Finish 2x Ravagers and 1x Raider, Begin 2 more Venom conversions.

Update

So I have another list that I've come up with to contemplate, that I think is a bit more points-efficient than my Vect nonsense.  I still love Vect, and haven't counted him out, but I think this one may be better overall.

Oh, and my latest warrior with possible basing idea.

Lists, Lists, Lists...

So I have an 1850 Singles Tournament next month and am having a fair amount of trouble deciding on a semi-final list.  I was feeling good about a couple of them, but played parking-log IG tonight and had a lot of trouble with them.  Actually I played them twice.  First time we called it after he blew up all my tanks turn 1 before I got to move.  Then we played again, wherein I made a game of it and we finished more or less in a draw.  Minor victory for me maybe.  The question is: how to build a DE all-comers list that can handle IG.

WYCHES!

So I've painstakingly begun down the road to painting all of my infantry, because painting tanks started making me want to pull out all my hair and other such masochistic things.  So without further ado, my first three Wyches!

Enter the Warriors!

Well in the aftermath of a certain football game where a certain team lost a game that didn't happen in a stadium that doesn't exist, I managed to (mostly) finish my first 5 warriors.  This includes a blaster warrior and a splinter cannon warrior.  I'm pretty happy with how everything's come out.  There are a few detail things still to finish like their random knife on their belt, but otherwise it's just basing and maybe a few missed highlights in my excitement for being done.  Enjoy!

Venom Conversion

Hey everyone!  Well it's been a while but I have a bit of a treat.  My first Venom.  Also the first time I've ever really done any major conversion work.  Not perfect (or perfectly symmetrical which drives me NUTS!) but I'm pretty happy with it for now until the actual kit comes out this summer.  C&C welcome.  Enjoy!
