Doubles Tournament!

Well I've got a doubles tournament this weekend with my old college roommate and his Blood Angels.  I'm frantically trying to finish up 2 more Venoms, 2 Trueborn, 2 Incubi, and some Raider/Ravager Dark Lances before Saturday.  In between studying for Histology and Immunology exams.  I'm probably screwed.  Oh well.

Anyways, on to the lists we're planning on fielding!

1250 Kabal of the Obsidian Sky

Archon w/SF, Huskblade, Soultrap, PGL, Drugs, Ghostplate
(yeah, I know he's not the most competitive, but he's awesome/fun and I feel like using him.  Moving on.)

6x Incubi in Raider w/FF
3x Trueborn w/Blasters in Venom w/2x Cannons

10x Wyches w/2xShardnets, Haywire Grenades, Hekatrix w/Agonizer in Raider w/FF
5x Warriors w/Blaster in Venom w/2x Cannons

2x Sanguinary Priests w/JP

10x Assault Marines, 2x Melta, Sgt w/PF
10x Assault Marines, 2x Melta, Sgt w/PF

Baal Predator w/TL-AssCannons, Hvy Bolter Sponsons
Baal Predator w/TL-AssCannons, Hvy Bolter Sponsons

Stormraven w/Multimelta, Lascannon, Extra Armor

TOTAL: 1250

Close to my standard list for the Kabal, with the exception of the Uber Archon of doooooom to go with his new shiny paint job!  I've played him this way a couple of times, and when you're able to take advantage of his nonsense it's quite ridiculous.  Not something I plan on relying on, but even if all he does is scare the pants off of an opponent or two, I'll be happy with him.  Besides, +1/2 Incubi or a few Nightshields thrown around aren't going to be the be-all end-all of the army.

The Blood Angels have a bit of an unorthodox hybrid between mech and jumper, particularly with the Stormraven.  The choices were made with the consideration of models available/painted/assembled and what he enjoys playing with.

We're a bit light on the long-ranged antitank, and I would've preferred an MSU-style BA list from a purely competitive standpoint, but that's not to say these two lists won't mesh quite nicely together.  Everything is fast and there's a reason to fear every unit (except perhaps the min-warrior venoms, but their job is wound-dumping under the radar or reserving for late objective grabbing anyways).  The Stormraven, while a bit out of place when paired with the predators in his list, meshes quite well with my mech saturation and gives us some interesting options to play with via combat-squadding one of the Assault Squads for a combined suicide melta/scoring stormraven combo.  With some solid play and a little bit of luck (PLEASE no double SW/IG!) we could very easily come out of this with some prize money.

Oh, and it's basically my buddy's first real tournament =)

  1. They did, and quite convincingly. I wish we had been able to go up against him, but that will have to wait until next time :)
